Words of wisdom from experienced Springer parents…

  • STAY INFORMED

    Subscribe to the Springer Calendar.

Attend Wednesday assembly, PTA meetings & school events.

Read your email, especially those from (@lasdschools.org @springerpta.org @laefonline.org mailer@classroomparent.com). Mark these as inbox VIPs.

Follow Springer Elementary School Community on Facebook.

  • SHARE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION

LASD uses Classroom Parent as a private directory of contact information for parents, teachers, and staff. Other parents need a way to invite your kid to birthday parties or playdates! It's also nice to see which classmates live nearby for impromptu neighborhood bike ride facilitation. We encourage you to share phone numbers, email addresses, and your home address as well. springer.classroomparent.com

  • VOLUNTEER

Being involved in your child’s school is one of the most impactful ways you can ensure their academic success. There is a way for every parent to volunteer at lunchtime, with events, in the classroom, and on your own time. Find ways to volunteer in Classroom Parent, Springer’s private parent directory and volunteer management tool. Check out our Volunteer page for more general information. Questions? Email community@springerpta.org.

  • CONSIDER OPTIONS FOR AFTER SCHOOL & SUMMER CARE EARLY

The years of year-round daycare are over! Get ready for summer camp. There are literally hundreds of camps, and the most in-demand start booking and fill up in January! The aftercares at Springer (Abracadabra or Los Altos Chinese School) usually have a waiting list. Always apply on time. At school alternatives include the daily after school programs which extend your child’s day to about 4pm.

Check out the local summer camps who support Springer!

  • HOST A COMMUNITY PARTY

One of the best parts of the Springer community is the families in it! Get together with friends and host a party for kids, families, or adults. Hosting a simple party is one of the easiest ways to meet other parents and get to know your child’s school friends and classmates. Learn more about Community Parties.

  • COMMIT TO WALKATHON IN OCTOBER

Even kids who hate exercise love Walkathon and you will grow to love it as much as they do. They will not agree to leave early; they will not want to do anything else instead; and they will pull you around so many laps your Fitbit will not recognize you. Just give up. Agree to love it now. • ATTEND THE SPRING PARENT GALA

It may not be mandatory to attend, but it’s corny fun that raises a lot of money for Springer. You will be at Springer for 7-8 years—you might as well make friends with other parents, and this is a great place to do it while also buying your summer vacation package or the chance to make your kid Principal for the Day!
