What is a Walkathon? Check out the Walkathon Info Packet (sent home with your child on Sep 19) and this video about the history of Walkathon!
The Springer Walkathon has been a beloved Los Altos School District (LASD) tradition since 1987. What started as students knocking on neighbors’ doors for per-lap pledges has grown into a student-led fundraiser and community-building event. Through Walkathon, students get involved in supporting THEIR school, learn to set and achieve a goal by working together, and develop a sense of belonging, responsibility, and ownership related to their school. Walkathon donations help our PTA fund supplies for PE, art, library, STEM lab and each classroom as well as music & dance for TK-3, social emotional learning, lunchtime activities, library books, all our community events, and more.
At the Walkathon event, our students walk to earn the donations they’ve received and to early medals and prizes. It is the most fun day of the year as we celebrate our Springer Stinger community! Kids walk and run while parents relax in the shade or follow along. The music, food trucks, and bonus laps keep us all going! Food trucks this year are Redwood Grill (burgers & hot dogs), Bun Me Up (bao buns), La Familia (tacos), Kona Ice (shaved ice). Cashless payment is preferred. All food vendors will offer a vegetarian option.
SPRINGER STUDENT FUNDRAISING
Our STUDENTS get involved in supporting THEIR school and take pride in supporting Springer! Collaborate with your child to create and personalize their page with photos and their words about their school and share with your friends and family. This is a great opportunity for our students to set a goal and work toward it. PLEASE WORK WITH YOUR STUDENT on this as a learning experience!
START HERE to create the fundraising page for your child. You’ll notice the language “Become a Champion” on the site.
The default goal is $250. Raise or lower at your discretion to fit your student! Make it obtainable for them!
Students should join their grade level team to qualify for participation awards! (Award details to be determined when fundraising concludes)
Each student should have their own fundraising page. Siblings should create separate pages.
Personalize your child’s fundraising page with a photo and a personal message. A default description has been provided but please personalize it as you wish.
MOST IMPORTANT PART Help your child share their Springer fundraiser page with friends and family!
